Plans to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on June 2nd are progressing well and the working party have already confirmed a number of events and activities to make this a very special day. This will include the lighting of a beacon in the evening to join councils across the country recognise and celebrate 70 years of our Queen’s reign. Residents and friends are invited to Parley to share in the celebration and enjoy your own picnic on the field.

Planning a Platinum Jubilee party?
Any residents planning to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee by holding a street party, in the Dorset Council area have until 21st April to lodge a street closure request.

The Parish Council have set up a working party under Councillor Tom Wilson to plan some celebrations to commemorated the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Representatives from the West Parley Memorial Hall; St Marks and All Saints Church; the various sporting bodies associated with West Parley Sports Club and the West Parley Volunteers amongst others.

There will be a series of events over the Bank Holiday Weekend of June 2nd/6th. On the evening of June 2nd a beacon will be lit on the Council owned land at 275 Christchurch Road at 9.42 pm. This is one of a minimum of 1500 beacons that will be lit cross the United Kingdom to mark the occasion. We hope as many residents as possible will attend to help us celebrate the event.

As part of the planned events, a photo montage will be screened to reflect the changing 70 years of everyday life in Her Majesty’s long reign in the Memorial Hall.
